NATIONAL LIST

Traditional crafts and traditional production of home-made objects or products
The National List includes typical for Bulgaria traditional crafts and home making of objects and products with preferably artistic qualities. The activities in the list are ancient, lively, unique and emblematic for Bulgaria. All of them meet the following criteria: use traditional instruments and predominantly manual technologies; process mainly natural raw materials or materials made of natural stuff; they are practiced at home, in workshops or as small family business; knowledge and skills necessary to practice them have been and continue to be transmitted from generation to generation by serving apprenticeship and learning from living human experience. This specific know-how is connected with the production of traditional objects and products or with the revitalization of almost forgotten models and patterns made by means of old technologies. The activities are grouped in congruent items according to the nature of the processed stuff. Their inner order ranges from less artistic to more artistic activities.
